Really didn’t expect Cajun in the Midwest, but it was quite good (and the closest restaurant to my hotel). Blackened catfish, tilapia and shrimp. 

Iowa pork tenderloin sandwich 😋

Today, driving from Peoria, Illinois to Des Moines, Iowa, where I’ll spend the next two nights. Once again, avoiding freeways.

Not sure what I’ll do in Des Moines, but so far, every city I’ve visited has revealed some unexpected pleasure. Hopefully this will be true in Des Moines also.

I was hesitant to order freshly shucked oysters in the Midwest but they were actually quite good. Not as good as being on Hood Canal or Chesapeake Bay, but still good 🙂

My next destination city is Des Moines, Iowa, which I could reach in about 8 hours if I drove freeways all the way. But, freeways are boring, so instead I’m going to stick to the smaller roads and drive to Peoria, Illinois. I’ll reach Des Moines tomorrow.

Yeah, my feet are a bit sore tonight…
