One of the first places that popped up when I googled “What to eat in Delaware” – Crab Cake at Woody’s. Every bit as good as it looks 😋

From Virginia Beach, Virginia to Dover, Delaware, where I’ll spend two nights.

Delaware was the first state to ratify the constition, on December 7, 1787 (and thus dubbed “the first state”), so on Monday I’ll drive up to New Castle and visit the First State National Historical Park (part of the National Parks System).

After that, I’m not sure. My tentative plan is to then go to Atlantic City, New Jersey, but Hurrican Jose may alter my plans.

Similar to Ocean City, Maryland, though a bit larger. While Ocean City has a strong “amusement park” vibe, Virginia Beach is much more hotels, restaurants and bars. I like both, doing each back to back makes for a great Atlantic coast visit.

First English settlement in North America (1607). Sometimes called the birthplace of America.

Though in Virginia, remained in control of Union forces througout the entire Civil War. Interesting visit.

Through both reproduction and restoration, displays a portion of Williamsburg as it appeared in the early 1770’s, when it was the capital of the colony of Virginia. Richmond became the capital of the state of Virginia after the Revolutionary War.

I drove this yesterday, fascinating. Across the mouth of Chesapeake Bay, it consists of six bridges (three northbound, three southbound) and two tunnels (one lane of traffic each way). Total of about 13 miles, I think.
