Lava fields, a one-thousand year old volcano, beautiful desert scenery and four pueblo ruins. Not quite as dramatic as the Grand Canyon but still, an interesting day.

Santa Fe, New Mexico to Flagstaff, Arizona, where I’ll spend three nights. Tomorrow I’ll visit Grand Canyon National Park (45th National Parks Service site this trip).

Drove up to Taos for the day, about 70 miles to the north. Nice town, a mini version of Santa Fe.
